Curettage and Electrodesiccation

Curettage and Electrodesiccation is a form of treatment for very early and superficial, biopsy-proven basal or squamous cell carcinomas. This form of treatment is only used for pre-cancerous tumors or cancerous tumors that have not spread beyond the original site. It is done by scraping away the cancerous area, followed by using a needle to destroy any remaining precancerous or cancerous cells. When found in the early stages, the treatment cures between 91%-97% of basal cell carcinomas and approximately 96% of squamous cell carcinomas.
